Failure to Corner the Market? — Overseas Military ‘Ballot Harvest’ Cut Short

U.S. Army Sgt. George Scheufele prepares to mail in his completed absentee ballot after voting in the American Presidential and Congressional election while at Camp Eagle in the battle-torn Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraq Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2004. The polls are scheduled in the United States for November 2. Scheufele, 24 and voting for the first time, said that the military’s voter registration drive had made it easy for him to participate. The CARES Act relief package has been used to gain control over how military votes would be cast and delivered, according to a close reading of the amendments.

The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), enacted by Congress in 1986, ensures that states comply with and allow service members to register and vote in Federal elections in a timely manner.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) included among her list of demands was requiring blank ballots to be sent to service members and the elimination of presenting identification to vote.

As Agricultural Futures Markets depend on complicated financial agreements, cornering a market can lead to selling some futures, such as onion futures, illegal. More than 60 years ago, two investors cornered the onion market and the result was that Congress passed legislation making it illegal to ever again buy and sell onion futures.

And so it should be with Ballot Harvesting, a term coined by California Republicans when politically-organized workers, volunteers, or family members collected absentee ballots and submitted them to polling places or election offices. When there is no secure chain of custody, the appearance of impropriety foreshadows the reality of stealing an election.

This year’s crop that Dems deem ripe for the picking is that of the US Military. Service member’s names and states of residence are printed on the ballots.

If successful, she would have gained the power to usurp states’ rights over “times, places, and manners” of congressional elections.

At a recent press conference, U.S. President Donald J. Trump said, “I think people should vote with ID, voter ID. I think voter ID is very important, and the reason they don’t want voter ID is because they intend to cheat.”

Military personnel will become the disenfranchised. Their right to choose their Commander-in-Chief will be impeded forever with fraud, replacing their ballots at mailing and delivery points, and ultimately their local polling stations. Now, those who protect us need protection.
