Facebook’s ‘Hate-Speech Engineering’ team is now run by half a dozen Chinese PhDs here on H-1B Visas, according to New York Post Op-Ed Editor Sohrab Ahmari this week.
You may have missed this bombshell because The Post is currently suspended from Twitter and living under the microscope on Facebook because it dared print news against the mainstream media’s presidential favorite.
“China is one of the most censorious societies on Earth. So what better place for Facebook to recruit social media censors?” Ahmari writes, citing an anonymous former Facebook insider.
This George Orwell team is based at Facebook’s offices in Seattle, where they are in charge of using machining learning to teach software how to censor you.
QMN reported about one of those same experts, also at Twitter, who was previously at Google and who, shortly after she came to this country, was awarded a grant by George Soros’s brother. This was Dr. Fei-Fei Li whose expertise grew from experimenting on the brains of cats, to ultimately figure out how game our brains in scrolling the Twitter feed. (Read all ’bout it!)
At Facebook, Ahmari said the way it’s designed is “so certain content ends up at the top of your newsfeed, a feat that earns the firm’s software wizards discretionary bonuses, per the ex-insider. It also means making sure other content ‘shows up dead-last.'”
The ex-insider explained how “they throw the newsfeed list into a machine-learning algorithm and neural networks that determine the ranking of the items. Facebook engineers test hundreds of different iterations of the rankings to shape an optimal outcome — and root out what bosses call ‘borderline content.'”
Ahmari concludes: “It all makes for perhaps the most chillingly sophisticated censorship mechanism in human history.”
The Hate-Speech Engineering team’s staff includes a research scientist who earned his master’s degree in computer engineering from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing; a software engineer for machine learning, with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Jilin University, in northeast China; an engineering manager, with a bachelor’s in computer science at Nanjing University, in eastern China. Another had previously worked for the Communist-backed conglomerate Huawei and Beijing National Railway & Design Institute of Signal and Communication.
A Facebook spokesperson told him over 35,000 people working on safety and security issues at Facebook, meaning these CCP plants were mere cogs in the machine. A grist mill where our freedom is the chaff.
